The History of the Mesquite Texas Fire Department.

Welcome to the History of the Mesquite Fire Department web site.  Although this site is "unofficial", it contains the most complete and up-to-date information available.  Enjoy your visit and please tell others that appreciate the preservation of the past.  Make your comments and suggestions so this site can continuously be improved.  Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon.

Other pages in this site contain A New Beginning, the story of the inception of this fire fighting company in a rural area in eastern Dallas County. The years from 1939 - 1957 tells of the volunteers and how they improved service to a growing community. As the department transforms into a professional organization, A New Era spans the growth of the department into an urban community.

As the department continues to grow, the equipment, both old and new, has a story all its own.  From the first twin tank hand cart to newly retired pumpers, Old Equipment will shine a light on the trucks of the past.  Current Equipment page is just that.

Any history buff will enjoy The '44 ALF Story.  This interesting tale of a 100 ft. tiller truck takes you from the purchase date through the many stops it makes to the current restoration process.
